Your life probably needs more countertenor, and John Holiday has you covered. Now firmly established at houses including the Met, LA Opera, and Opera Philadelphia, the heavenly-voiced Holiday has recently brought his baroque sensibilities to his La Jolla debut, where he performed Purcell and Handel arias in collaboration with the Mark Morris Dance Group. He’s also been everywhere from Shanghai for Huang Ruo’s chamber opera Paradise Interrupted, to Switzerland for his Lucerne Symphony debut. Next month he’s headed to LA for the world premiere of Matthew Aucoin’s Eurydice; in March he’ll be at Omaha Opera for ONE Festival’s CINEsound; June sees him back in New York for a special project at the Metropolitan Museum of Art — stay tuned.
